United States Laws Regarding Texting While Driving

It seems that all the teens these days are doing a dangerous act- and for some states, it isn’t illegal! Texting and driving is a new act to address as mobile phones become more popular. Studies show that with proper legislation, driver safety will surge.

Since there is no federal law that says texting while driving is a punishable crime, each state has to individually create and pass legislation to regulate it. Some states such as Washington have banned the act of texting completely. Other states have made it a rule that you have to be a certain age, often 21, before you can legally text and drive.

Some states have shown sympathy for those who text while driving. Missouri is an example of a state that has done so, as it only bans those under the age of 21 from texting and driving. Those over this age can do as they wish at their own discretion. This hasn’t gone over well with some that have been directly affected by texting and driving, but it is a step in the right direction to keep the Missouri roads safe.

The vehicle is a very complex piece of machinery weighing in at over a ton. It’s no surprise, then, that studies show that texting and driving has resulted in many fatalities. Support groups point out that the fatalities are close to numbers of driving under the influence, as studies have been known to show. As legislation lags behind studies, it’s important that parents teach good driving practices to their children to prevent unsafe driving.

Mobile phone companies are starting to make advances in newer technologies that make the act of texting a thing of the past. Voice recognition software is one of the solutions that isn’t quite perfected. While voice recognition can get a high accuracy rate, it is never perfect. Different dialects can also be hard to track. In addition, background noise could interfere with how the software picks up different words of speech.

The only real solution to texting while driving seems to be to actually call the person you intend on contacting. After all, mobile phones do primarily function as a means of speaking to another person. Whenever possible, those who currently text while drive should make the phone call instead. If that isn’t possible, then talking to the recipient at a later date is a much greater idea that potentially putting yourself at risk for an auto accident.

Using Packet Tracer To Design A Small Computer Network

Packet Tracer is a wonderful development program put out by Cisco: a leader in computer networking hardware. Creating a basic network can be tough going, but it’s necessary in learning in order to qualify for the CCNA certification exam.

Two computers that are connected through a router are actually on separate networks if properly configured. Having a computer communicate another on a different network is a complex process, but Packet Tracer makes it easy to setup the design and configuration.In about 10-15 minutes, the most basic of all networks can be constructed and working.

Make certain that you are using a crossover cable when connecting the desktop to the Ethernet port of the router. Computers and routers are both “like” devices, so you wouldn’t want to use a straight-through cable to connect them. Also make sure that you have a console cable if you plan on configuring the router on a real network, as you will not be able to access the running configuration otherwise.

Each of the computers on the network will need an IP address for routing information from one network to another. You will also have to assign an IP address to each Ethernet port of the router. The Ethernet port connected to a single desktop machine will share the same network address, but will have a different host address. There will be two separate networks; one on each of the Ethernet ports. The IP address you assign may not be a reserved number or duplicated among ports.

The gateway address is also very important: it allows a computer to connect to a network. The gateway address is configured on the desktop, and it’s value is the same IP address as the Ethernet interface that it is connected to. Without the gateway, information wouldn’t have a way of getting from one network to another. It’s one of the most common rookie mistakes to accidentally leave the gateway address blank.

Troubleshooting is what computer network technicians are known for. If you find that your network isn’t working at this point, you shouldn’t be surprised. There are hundreds of reasons a network can go wrong, ranging from physical connections to input errors. The trick is to troubleshoot the symptoms of the network to see where you went wrong and how to fix it. Cisco Network Simulators Available For Immediate Download

Computer networking students are caught in between a rock and a hard place when going through difficult course studies. Students need access to hardware available in class to do labs and reports, and may not have the same hardware at home to work on. Emulation programs have sought to fix this problem.

An expensive yet thorough solution is with Boson’s software packaged named Netsim. Netsim ranges in value, from $200 to $500, depending on the licensing and options needed. Netsim is the best bet for instructors, as it comes loaded with plenty of extras such as activities and grading programs. Perhaps less affordable for students, who are usually on a tight budget.

Open source programs should receive the attention of students since they are free to download and use. Dynagen is one such program, of which is built with the Dynamips simulator. Dynagen is one of two software packages that currently works with Dynamips, and is often described as being the less friendly of the two. Documentation is also lacking for those with questions.

Another open source program that works based on Dynamips is GNS-3. This program package is more user friendly than Dynagen, and it also has a more supportive user base. GNS-3 is free to download and use, so students should at least give the program a try when deciding on which network simulation software to use. Paid programs have free demos to help judge which is best.

Packet Tracer is known to be the king of the industry. Cisco created this software for its own students in the CCNA course. The only problem is that if you aren’t a Cisco student, alumni, or instructor- you won’t be able to get your hands on it. You couldn’t get it even if you offered them money; Cisco is strict on only allowing students to get their hands on this fine software. It’s at least worth considering a Cisco class to obtain.

There are several web-based programs used with Macromedia Flash and text-based applications that one can look at. These range from free to pricey, just as standalone programs do. Web-based applications can be just as useful, but keep in mind you’ll have to have a constant connection to the Internet to use most of them. Often times it’s just better to get a desktop application for ease of use.

Proper Structure In English Grammar Explained

If you can’t convey your thoughts in writing while using the English language, you may find it hard to pass off as a genuine intellect to others you come into contact with. Learning English grammar is important in proving your intelligence, and there are many tests of such intelligence to be aware of.

Contractions are hard to get down for some. Perhaps one of the most common mistakes is the use of “your” and “you’re.” When you see the contraction “you’re” you should be able to replace it with “you are” and the sentence should make sense still. “Your” is instead used to show ownership of an item. An example could be “She said you’re welcome to have a cookie, so make your decision.” As we can see, the sentence makes sense when using “you are” in place of contractions.

“There” and “their” is another grammar just waiting to happen. When you use “there” you are indicated a location, while “their” is used to shown ownership of some sort. This one is easy to get down, and an example sentence would be “There are three brothers in the family, but each of their personalities is different.”

This one is a bit more tricky to use: “effect” and “affect.” The word “affect” is used as a verb in just about every situation, while “effect” is a noun. A good example of “affect” would be “The clouds affect the amount of sunlight the ground receives,” while a good example of “effect” would be “Since the rain was gone, there was no effect on driving conditions.” Just remember that “affect” does the action in this case.

Don’t fret if you are having problems with some of the more advance English grammar rules. Some take time and practice, while others involve actually learning how words sound. An example is with “a” and “an.” We use “an” when the word succeeding it sounds like it has a vowel sound. You would type “an hour,” for instance. Just looking at the word you may get confused, since “hour” starts with an “h” – but with practice you can avoid such errors.

The American youth typically get the difference between “good” and “well” wrong. If asked how you are feeling, and you wish to convey you are doing well, you do not say “I am doing good.” Instead you would say “I am doing well,” since well is a noun, while “good” is an adjective. Obviously the context would be out of place.
